Allegations against Congressman Dale Kildee raise
Some years ago similar allegations were made by some of my distant relatives against a man. They had a long history of milking welre, encouraging their daughters to get pregnant very young in order to bring in additional income, being associated with several fires and then living it up on insurance and other handouts and probably running a B&E ring. The one thing they were good at was running a variety of cons and they dragged the man through the gutter.
Patrick kildees story seems very contrived and brought about at a very unusual moment to just be casual. Someone is pulling the strings behind this story. I just wonder who is giving and getting the payoff.
&8220;Time has a way of eroding the history of events,&8221; Manley said. &8220;Evidence are destroyed, people&8217;s memories are ded. It really limits your ability to go back and recreate what happened.&8221;
Alllllll these years in Congress and suddenly this comes up as he retires and his nephew decides to run. Sure seems like some odd timing for this repressed memory to come to light. Or should we call it encouraged memory.
I would agree that a statute of limitations that ends one year after someone turns 18 is probably too short, but the bill the Catholic Conference opposed would have extended it to 30 years, which is r too long. I suspect that if state legislators had proposed extending it to a more reasonable 5 or perhaps even 10 years after someone turns 18, the Catholic Conference (and probably many others) wouldnt have been nearly as opposed to it.

There is onlyy one way to solve this problem. Representative Kildee needs to change parties and become a Republican. Then the media and Democrats will say he needs to be dismissed from his duties immediately because of how serious the charges are. Remember, it was a Democrat, when talking about George Bushs supposed SR71 mission, that said the lack of evidence was EXACTLY why we need to investigate it!
Statutes of limitations on alleged child abuse has become a contentious subject in recent years, with cases national headlines in dozens of states where child advocates have fought to reform the law for cases involving children while others have argued that allowing decades-old accusations into courts would create unir trials.
In ct, that is the essence of our economic and political troubles. Transnational corporations grease politicians palms. The thing is that I saw Kildee walk away from money over principle over many years.
Advertisers should also have their ads readily available for download.
Um, if he did it, then why did he report to the FBI when Patricks mily tried to blackmail him for money and political vors? Seems like a bad strategy if youre trying to cover something up.
If you step in something and it smells like dog poo, and it looks like dog poo, you really dont need to EAT it to find out.
Allegations against Congressman Dale Kildee raise,FLINT, Michigan &8212; Patrick Kildee&8217;s claims that his secondcousin Congressman Dale E. Kildee ually abused him 50 years ago will only be tried in one court: public opinion.
&8220;It&8217;s an automatic defense mechanism. Once that happens it tends to be a relatively permanent thing. The chances of just having a sudden recollection of a presented memory are pretty low.&8221;
If Dale Kildee were actually guilty of this kind of behavior … where are other examples ? People with issues exhibit them over and over. This single complaintant has every appearance of either being completely bricated or at least exagrerated WAY out of context.
&8220;They just stuff it and think it will go away. When you report ual abuse, it&8217;s not an easy thing to do. This is not something people want to deal with but sometimes they&8217;re forced to because of the way their life is going.&8221;
&8220;I was angry because I could see,&8221; he said during the interview.
She said surveys have showed that many people don&8217;t disclose abuse stories until their mid-forties, sometimes when their own children reach the age they were abused.
&8220;Children often think they&8217;re the only ones being abused and that something is wrong with them and they try to push it aside and try to cope with life,&8221; said Bernier, whose agency leads the Enough Abuse Campaign that calls for repealing statute of limitation laws on child ual abuse in Massachusetts.
I dont believe a word of it. In my opinion, Patrick Kildee is a whackjob psychiatric patient that is looking for more me and money by playing the victim. What a disgrace. He should be ashamed of himself, playing the victim of a crime that never occurred, bringing questions to REAL victims of crimes because of this lying pig.
Todays obituaries: Margaret Haddix, 87, of Davison, was a founding member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church
To do a spinoff from logic (in keeping with the teabag/fleabag party), I could say that this is a ploy by his Republican-voting mily members and State Republicans to make up for Paul Scotts lost seat. Lunacy, perhaps? Well, Im only in keeping with the right-wing whackjobs and their off-the-wall claims theyve made over the past few years (take the hint-you people are disgusting pigs that are ruining our country. FU.)
Similar legislation has been introduced in other states, including Alaska, Maine and Delaware that have extended or eliminated statutes of limitations for civil and criminal cases involving child abuse.
Years ago, I remember seeing a segment on the Phil Donahue show about repressed memories. This woman claimed she remembered traveling down the birth canal when she was born. Huh? Sometimes we have to take these things with a grain of salt.
But legal experts say there are legitimate reasons for statutes of limitation, such as a defendant&8217;s ability to account for whereabouts on the dates of the alleged abuse.
&8220;That&8217;s way too early for them to understand the connection between the past and the trauma,&8221; Bernier said.
why would the statue of limitations be even brought up? Is it because Kildee has a (D) after his name???? If allegations are proven, and children were involved…there should never be any time limits on when thing s should be handled…..
Darryl L. Douglas, a Flint-based clinical psychologist who has worked with children, said uncovering a repressed memory takes intense and lengthy therapy. They aren&8217;t easily recovered, nor simply triggered by later events, he said.
He said with the exception of DNA and other breakthrough evidence, cases that emerge years after the ct risk turning into he-said, she-said testimonies.
There is a reason why we have a statute of limitations. You cant simply pick and choose which crimes you want to remove from the statute of limitations because you want to the ability to file charges and prosecute anyone and everyone.
And we are to believe that there was no unusual behavior during those 15 years? And guess what the intervening agent was toward the end of those fifteen years. No social withdrawal or acting out in childhood that required intervention then? Considering illnesses like schizophrenia and manic-depression generally do not arise until the late teens/early adulthood, Beata could have at least looked up the works of forensic psychologist Ralph Underwager, psychologist Elizabeth Loftus and sociologist Richard Ofshe, if she was unable to speak with someone who has a different view than Bernier and Douglas.
There are intimidation methods by the abuser, fears no on will believe them, guilt and shame, Bernier said. There is also often a disassociation between the trauma and the psychological and physical wounds such as depression, substance abuse, obesity and relationship issues, she said.
Some states, including Connecticut and Pennsylvania, give alleged victims decades after they turn 18 to take the accused to court, in some case as late as near 50 years old.
Patrick Kildee was eventually diagnosed schizophrenic manic depressive and was in and out of a mental hospital for psychiatric counseling, according to the televised report.
&8220;When there&8217;s an experience of trauma that our brain deems too risky for us to deal with, then our brain may take the memory of that event and things associated with it and put it on a shelf somewhere way back in the unconsciousness,&8221; said Douglas, a psychology lecturer at the University of Michigan-Flint.
In Michigan, a child has until a year after they turn 18 to file a ual abuse claim in civil court for any allegations that would have occurred when they were a minor.
we have a statute for good reasons. also these social workers/ therapy workers have been proven wrong in the past. remember the child care cases in Boston and California, where they ruined innocent peoples lives? Yet they suffer no consequences for lse allegations. throw in monetary rewards for alleged behavior, and no consequences for lse accusations. mix in cost to taxpayers for tying up the civil, and criminal system, and I see why we need a statute of limitations . add in all the people who believe in ghosts and aliens and not sure you can trust a jury pool. especially as people with a good job, and a life try and get out. Plaintive attorneys try and pick a venue with a lot of poor people to serve on the jury.
In a televised interview last week,Patrick Kildee described the abuse that allegedly started when he was 15 years old, as repressed memories that came out later in life. U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee, D-Flint, has refuted his second cousin&8217;s allegations as &8220;completely lse and shameless.&8221;
abuse that allegedly started when he was 15 years old…when he got out of a state hospital in his early 30s that the repressed memories came out.
Kildee&8217;s chief of staff, Callie Coffman,told The Journal Monday that the congressman was exploring &8220;legal options&8221; to protect his reputation and that he won&8217;t let the accusations go &8220;unchallenged.&8221;
The church systematically covered for pedophiles in their ranks. It just goes to show that as institutions age that they become more interested in covering their bureaucracy than in serving their mission.
The Journal has been unable to reach Patrick Kildee for comment.
But when it comes to legal cases, repressed memories are a controversial psychological phenomenon that even child advocates have backed away from as a reason to lift statute of limitation laws.
But there are compelling reasons for why victims don&8217;t speak out until so many years later, she said.
Statutes differ by states where some laws demand people report the abuse not long after the age of 16 or 18.
I guarantee you that doing so will only make the problem worse. Murder is the only crime where there should be no statute of limitations for, and for obvious reasons.
There won&8217;t be a trial. No criminal or civil charges. No opportunities to close the case with a guilty or innocent verdict.
I hope that Kildee sues both the hucksters and political hacks for conspiracy to destroy his reputation. Is this grounds of a civil and/or criminal RICO case? There are many examples of lse suppressed memory claims. In ct, claims of ual abuse have become the weapon of choice.
Bills in the state House and Senate have aimed to extend that window, which the Michigan Catholic Conference has fiercely lobbied against in Lansing.
In the interview in which Patrick Kildee made the claims, he said it was when he got out of a state hospital in his early 30s that the &8220;repressed memories came out.&8221;
It is unclear whether he will seek legal recourse for demation but his office hasn&8217;t ruled it out.
I have been dealing with Washington politics for over a decade and while there are plenty of scummy politicians I have never seen anything to make me think that Kildee is anything other than honest.
Bills in the state House and Senate have aimed to extend that window, which the Michigan Catholic Conference has fiercely lobbied against in Lansing= GOP protecting pedophiles.
The second thing which bothers me about coverage these claims is it representative of a general decline in journalism. Did anyone bother to ct check or to balance credibility of the parties?
Dale Kildee has vowed to clear his name.
Allegations against Congressman Dale Kildee raise questions about repressed memories and statutes of limitation on child abuse cases
Frankly, claims againsAllegations against Congressman Dale Kildee raiset Dale Kildee sound very much like that case. It appears some hucksters partnered with some really low life political types to make foul claims, which by their very nature prejudice people against the accused.
The now highly publicized accusations made by the alleged victim and his mily members won&8217;t ever see a courtroom because of laws that prevent it.
Somewhere, somehow, there is part of this story that isnt public yet … like someone getting paid to make this story public.
Boy – Everone out to smash this guy – Kildee is a work horse not a show horse – maybe he
We desperately need more principled politicians. The problem is that DC attracts those who are least suited to run the country.statute
Bleeding hearts. Got to love them. Why dont we simply abolish the statute of limitations on every crime and make it a capital punishment offense for every crime?
&8220;They&8217;re not designed to help someone get away with something,&8221; Flint-based defense attorney Frank Manley said of the laws. &8220;They&8217;re designed to preserve a person&8217;s right to irly defend against an accusation.&8221;
How do you prove that such a crime happened 50 years ago? Unless you have some type of DNA evidence, recorded audio or video, it would only be one persons word against the accused. Without statue of limitations, imagine how you could get your suddenly rich uncle in trouble by being a very good story teller. If your uncle truly did not do what hes accused of, you would still damage his past and current reputation.
In my opinion coverage of this story is another black mark on the Flint Journal. If the Flint Journal continues on its current business path, my advice to advertisers is to start distributing their ads directly to the public. They should bundle ads and have them delivered by mail once a week. After all, keeping mail solvent and functioning well is a much higher priority than having the Flint Journal.
Many child advocates working to repeal statue of limitation laws &8212; a revived effort after a series of ual abuse allegations suced against Catholic priests &8212; no longer use repressed memories as a defense for reforms because they&8217;ve been widely discredited, said Massachusetts Citizens for Children Executive Director Jetta Bernier.

I am on the verge of writing a script to suck down all the ads which I have interest in and just canceling the Flint Journal. Quality of their content has dramatically declined.
